In Which I Almost Die
I chilled around the house this morning. Cleaned, sketched, and caught up on emails. The dudes rode down to the lake. At about 3 p.m. we headed out to Col d’Ornon, first featured in the Tour in 1966. We later found out it’s appeared on the route multiple times since then, including as recently as 2013. It’s only about 18 miles round-trip but it’s a big climb with a fast descent. I almost died doing a two-wheeled skid around a corner, but I pulled it (and calmed way down afterward). Still a blast! And we lost the camera van, so we didn’t have to stop once for “great shots.” I did the whole climb nonstop, which was pretty good for me. I can’t wrap my head around how enjoyable riding up mountains is.Carbon Wheels
